N'Dary-lo
Sculpture
Born in 1961 in Tivaouane (Senegal), Ndary Lo graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in Dakar. After a brief period experimenting with painting, he turned to sculpture. From the beginning, Ndary Lo worked with used materials, incorporating objects such as doll heads, soda caps, kerosene lamps, and horseshoes, before adopting rebar as his preferred medium.
He developed the technique of accumulation/installation, enabling him to create monumental ephemeral installations. His works, including "Walking Man," long metallic silhouettes, elongated often faceless women, and large tree walls, are always engaged and imbued with an unwavering faith in God and humanity.
