Stephane LAMBERT
Writer

Intrigued by the creative process, Stéphane Lambert has dedicated a series of essays to major artists (Staël, Rothko, Klee, Monet, Spilliaert, Van Gogh, Friedrich, Goya), which earned him the André Malraux Prize and the Roland de Jouvenel Prize from the French Academy.

In 2023, he published a definitive monograph on Nicolas de Staël with Gallimard and co-signed a documentary about the painter for Arte.

In Belgium, he won the Victor Rossel Prize (the main literary award) for his autobiographical work L’Apocalypse heureuse (Arléa, 2022).

In addition to his books, he has written fiction and radio documentaries, notably for France Culture, and contributes to the print press (Beaux-Arts Magazine, Revue des deux Mondes). This fall, he is writing the text for two contemporary artist catalogs: Fabienne Verdier. Retables (Galerie Lelong & Co / Waddington Custot) and Michel Mouffe chez Le Corbusier: Couvent de La Tourette (Éditions Bernard Chauveau).
