"The Overlooked Female Painters Who remembers Catharina Van Hemessen, Artemisia Gentileschi, Marie-Guillemine Benoist, or Berthe Morisot? Long neglected by critics and art historians or sidelined in studies on the history of painting, female artists have nevertheless played an important role in the history of European art. It is known that they practiced their art since antiquity, without receiving the recognition and legacy granted to their male counterparts. In this lecture, we will discuss the journeys of these female artists, most of whom were rediscovered in the second half of the 20th century."
